WanderLust: a rental platform

How did you build WanderLust?

WanderLust is a full-stack rental platform, think a small Airbnb. Users create listings with photos, browse what others have posted, and update or remove their own.

  • Auth that holds up. Passport.js handles sign-up, login and sessions, and route guards make sure only a listing's owner can edit or delete it.
  • A RESTful API in Express.js. Clean resource routes for listings, backed by MongoDB.
  • Image uploads. Multer takes the upload and streams it to Cloudinary, so the server never stores files itself.
  • Server-rendered UI. EJS templates with Bootstrap keep it responsive on phones without a frontend build step.

It's where I learned to think in resources, middleware and ownership checks, which I still lean on in every backend I build.
